Buying a new car is a massive investment, so it’s essential that you opt for the right one based on your unique needs. Here are some of our favorite tips that can help you find the perfect vehicle.

1. Consider Your Needs

It can be appealing to simply opt for a fast sports car, but that may not be what suits your situation the best. If you frequently embark on a long commute, for example, you may want a vehicle that’s efficient and comfortable rather than fast and flashy. If you have a large family or plan on frequently carrying passengers, you’ll want to consider factors like seating capacity and rear legroom.

2. Create a Budget

When searching for a car, your budget can get out of hand faster than you think. A vehicle is a huge investment, so it’s important that you make sure you get the right one. Remember, the monthly car payment is only one of the many costs to keep in mind. You’ll also want to consider long-term expenses like insurance, gas, and maintenance.

3. Find the Right Type of Car

Cars come in numerous shapes and sizes, so it’s important that you find the right class of car for you. Sedans are appealing with generous interior space and a separate trunk, while crossovers are considerably roomier with just a small decrease in drivability. Families looking for premier comfort may prefer a minivan or an SUV. Additionally, you may want to consider the efficiency of an electric or hybrid vehicle.

With these tips in mind, you’ll have no problem finding your next car

The 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has impressed drivers from the moment it was released, and it has been named the 2023 Family Green Car of the Year thanks to its remarkable comfort and efficiency. Take a closer look at its award-winning design.

Impressive Range

Being a hybrid vehicle, the Outlander’s driving range is one of the most important factors to consider when it comes to deciding whether or not it is right for you. Fortunately, this SUV has a range of 420 miles, with completely clean electric power for up to 38 miles. That could be enough to run some errands without needing to use a drop of gas. With a DC fast charger, it only takes 38 minutes to get to a reliable 80% charge.

Expert Control

One of Mitsubishi’s most stunning engineering achievements is the Super All-Wheel Control system, or S-AWC. This all-wheel-drive system is state-of-the-art and comes standard with the Outlander PHEV. This system is available in several Mitsubishi vehicles, but the version in the Outlander PHEV was specifically modified to work in conjunction with the SUV’s unique twin electric motor configuration for superior traction and safety.

Advanced Safety

The Outlander PHEV’s safety features are state of the art thanks to the MI-PILOT Assist system. This suite of driver assistance features lets you and your family ride with confidence knowing that these systems are working together to keep you and your passengers safe. Some features include forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection and lane-departure warning.

With these handy features, the 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV more than earned the title of Family Green Car of the Year.

The test drive is one of the most important steps in the car-buying experience, and it’s essential that you get as much as you can out of the endeavor. With these tips, it’s easy to get the most out of your test drive.

Stay Firm on the Car You Want

Before you embark on your test drive, you’ll need to decide which car you want to test. Dealerships sometimes try to push you toward a specific car, so you’ll need to stay firm on what you’re looking for. A good salesperson may guide you in the right direction with insight you haven’t considered, but it’s still essential to avoid test driving a car you know you’re not interested in or is out of your budget.

Plan the Route in Advance

While some dealerships have planned routes for you to take, it’s generally OK to navigate yourself provided you don’t stray too far from the dealership. This is important because it allows you to see how the vehicle performs under different conditions rather than just on the low-speed roads the salesperson suggests. At the least, try out both town roads and highways during your drive.

Test Drive With a Buddy

Salespeople are trained to do whatever they can to have you leave their lot with a new car. That means they often spend the entire test drive asking you questions, which can be distracting when evaluating the car. By bringing a buddy with you, they can distract the salesperson and field questions while you get a feel for the ride.

With these tips, it’s easy to make the most out of your test drive.

Now that it’s spring, you’re probably eager to get outside and enjoy Plano’s beautiful scenery. Here are a couple of ways to enjoy the outdoors.

Check Out Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve

At 800 acres, Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve is Plano’s largest park. It features 8 miles of paved trails and 5 miles of soft surface trails, which are open from sunrise to sunset. The soft surface trails wind their way along Rowlett Creek, which is full of white bass, catfish, and crappie, so if you enjoy fishing, bring your fishing license and equipment. You can also go kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboarding.

A zipline course is available, giving thrilling views as you zip across the creek. The park serves as a sanctuary for kestrels, and visitors are reminded to be aware of bobcats and coyotes.

Attend an Outdoor Concert

The only thing more fun than going to a concert is going to an outdoor concert. On weekends, you can enjoy live music in the Box Garden at Legacy Hall. This unique venue is constructed from reclaimed shipping containers and features picnic tables so you can hang out with all of your friends. You can even reserve a VIP lounge area staffed by your own cocktail server.

Since the Box Garden is attached to Legacy Food Hall, you can sample various cuisines as you listen to music. Sports fans will also want to visit the Box Garden when it hosts viewing parties for the Rangers, Stars, and other local teams.

These are just two of many ways you can enjoy the outdoors in Plano. When you get outside, you’re sure to have a great time.

Several factors can indicate driving habits, but few are quite as useful as your tires’ tread wear. The tread on your tires will wear no matter what, and there’s no way to avoid it, but how it wears depends greatly on how you drive. Look at what your tire tread wear says about your driving habits.

Wear in the Center

If you see that your tires are worn down in the center more than anywhere else, they’re likely over-inflated. When tires have too much air in them, they tend to wear down faster overall, and it can compromise your traction on the road. Always ensure your tire pressure is within the recommended range for your specific make and model.

Feathered Wear

Feathered wear can be tough to spot with a simple visual exam, but it’s fairly easy to feel. This kind of wear is when the tire tread is worn on one side and sharp on the other. While improper wheel alignment can cause this, aggressive driving and high-speed cornering are common causes, too.

Worn Sidewall

When the sidewall of your tire is worn, it typically means that you parked too close to the curb. Scraping your tire along curbs can cause sidewall wear, eventually compromising the tire’s core. While parking close to the curb can be tough to avoid in the city, avoid parking too close for the sake of your tires’ longevity.

Wear is a natural part of a tire’s life span, but proper driving habits can help extend that life span as long as possible.

Plano is home to plenty of fun things to do, but a more interesting way to spend your time may be traveling off the beaten path to one of the less-visited attractions. Quite a few options are available, and they each offer unique experiences you may not normally expect from Plano. Take a look at some of our favorites.

Treetop Adventure

Go Ape

The Go Ape treetop adventure course lets you and your family find fun in between the branches. Located in Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve, this facility is home to obstacles, zip lines, and more set on 800 acres of land. Each section of the course takes you higher and higher before finishing off with a zip line. Aside from the activities in the treetops, you can also enjoy scenic walks and hiking.

Heritage Farmstead

A visit to the Heritage Farmstead lets you step back in time to the 19th century where you can see how people used to live. Many of the original buildings are still standing, and you’ll find a museum alongside an active farm. That means real live animals are here too, which you can enjoy even if you aren’t all that interested in history.

Collinsworth Cemetery

For a more somber experience, you may want to visit the Collinsworth Cemetery. It’s a dark reminder of the power that smallpox once had on the community. Not only are victims buried here, but you can learn more about the history of the disease and how it affected Plano in the past.

With these odd yet fascinating activities, you’ll never be short of things to do in Plano.
